Mission SpaceWalker 2024/25 Registration

Mission SpaceWalker is an undergraduate research group made up of mainly women and gender-diverse individuals focused on research, outreach, and developing new technologies for space exploration applications. In 2023, we flew our first robotics experiment integrating electroadhesion (EA) on the wheels of robots to explore the adhesive behaviour of our in-house manufactured EA pads during the Canadian Reduced Gravity Experiment (CAN-RGX) 5 Challenge. This technology could enable robots to climb spaceships, meteoroids, or even rescue missions in places like caves here on earth.

For the upcoming year, Mission SpaceWalker has a number of exciting projects ongoing, from outreach to science to technology development. These projects include Operation Tread Lightly, a collaboration with Rockaboo Adventure Guides, where the team is working to develop a both a citizen science platform to enable anyone to participate in the exploring and monitoring of the Athabasca Glacier in Jasper, Alberta, as well as instrumentation development.

Most recently, we have also participated in competitions such as Canadian Stratospheric Balloon Experiment (CAN-SBX) 6 and Canadian Analog Research Expedition (CAN-ARX) 1.

We are currently recruiting members from ALL faculties! There is no minimum requirement to join!

Our official onboarding meeting for all new members will take place during our Annual General Meeting (AGM) set to take place on September 20th, 2024 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm MST (Tentatively).
